Tim Pawlenty wins Governor race Tim Pawlenty, Republican and former House majority leader, was elected governor Tuesday.
Pawlenty broke out of a tight three-way race last month, telling Minnesotans he’d fix the state’s budget problems without raising taxes, protect funding for schools and focus transportation spending on new highways and bridges.
Democrat Roger Moe was second in the race followed by Tim Penny, the Independence Party's successor to Gov. Jesse Ventura. Trailing fourth was Green Party candidate Ken Pentel.
