| With elections coming to an end, there will be a lot less politicians on campus.
SCSU Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs Joe Opatz will be an exception. He was re-elected as state representative for district 15B.
A number of candidates visited campus during their campaigns. One face in particular has become familiar to students around campus and in the community the last couple of weeks.
Tarryl Clark, who lost the senate race against Dave Kleis by less than 2 percent, spent a considerable amount of time visiting with students in residence halls, neighborhoods near campus, as well as local bars.
“The students really energized me,” Clark said, “and I’d like to try to get their issues heard.”
The lines for voting in Atwood were extremely long and about 100 registered voters did not get to vote.
“Students should be able to vote and have their voices heard,” she said.
Clark said there should have been separate lines for registered and non-registered voters, like in other precincts.
Clark will return to her job as executive director of Minnesota Community Action Association, but said she will run again.
“Students ought to be really concerned about the new government,” Clark said, regarding tuition and work study.
