Girl freed from washing machine
A 6-year-old girl trapped in a coin-operated washing machine that was filling with water was freed when a man smashed the appliance’s window with a tire iron.

The girl and her rescuer were taken to a hospital, where the child underwent surgery to repair cuts to her face and body. She is in stable condition.

The girl was at a laundromat with her mother Tuesday. She decided to climb into the front-loading machine when the door closed behind her. When the wash cycle began, the door locked and she couldn’t get out.

As the washer begin to fill with water, passerby Kloeum Nhem tried to smash the glass with his arm. When that failed, he got a tire iron from his car.

Woman reads Bible in the buff
A woman in West Virginia has been charged by authorities with indecent exposure after she sat outside a college building as a nude Bible reader.

The 49-year-old woman has also been charged with disturbance of school and disorderly conduct.

According to police, Barbara Harmison put her clothes in a pile beside her as she read from the Bible on the steps of a building at Shepherd College Monday while classes were in session.

The woman did not say why she removed her clothes. Earlier in the day she was told by campus police that she couldn’t preach unless she received permission from the school’s student affairs department.
