Gas pump leaks 50 gallons of fuel
Nearly 50 gallons of gasoline spilled into the storm sewer system and kept firefighters busy for more than two hours Tuesday at First Fuel Bank on Cooper Avenue North.

A gas tanker trying to deliver unleaded gasoline to a pump accidentally hit the pump around 6 p.m., causing the fuel to leak. Approximately $65 in gas was spilled. No one was injured.

Firefighters used combustible gas meters to take explosive readings in the area to determine how much fuel had leaked which helped determine how volatile the spill was. Vapors were found in the storm sewer system that runs along Cooper Avenue.

St. Paul gang member sentenced
A St. Paul gang member convicted in the murder of 4-year-old Davisha Brantley-Gillum was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Keith B. Crenshaw, 28, was convicted in June of shooting the girl in 1996 to gain entrance into, or enhance his position within, the Rolling 60s Crips gang.

A federal court jury found that Crenshaw was part of the attempted ambush of rival gang members at a St. Paul gas station July 20, 1996. Bullets fired from behind a fence missed the rival gang members and instead hit Brantley-Gillum, her mother and another woman. The girl died of a bullet wound to the head.

Crenshaw continues to deny his involvement.
