In the article “Winter parking takes effect” (Mon. Nov. 18), there were several errors.
The article said Q-Lot must be vacated between 1-6 p.m. Saturdays through March 1, but Q-Lot must be vacated between 1-5 p.m. Saturdays through March 1.
The article also quoted a Public Safety officer as saying students with a parking permit of any kind are able to park in any lot on campus after 3 p.m. as long as they have a permit.
This statement is not a rule. According to the Parking policy, there are restrictions students should be aware of for each different lot.
The article also said parking tickets are $25. Standard parking tickets are $20, while the cost of having a boot or clamp removed costs $25.
The article also may imply that Public Safety Department tows cars in violation of the winter parking policies.
PSD however, doesn't tow vehicles in violation of the winter parking policies unless they are in violation of other PSD policies, or have a certain number of unpaid tickets.
PSD encourages students to review parking policies on the SCSU Web site, and not rely on other individuals for accurate information about parking rules and regulations.
University Chronicle apologizes for any confusion the article may have caused for motorists on campus.
