'King's Dream' inspires crowd

Marvin Grays performs “Dr. King’s Dream” in the Atwood Little Theatre Wednesday night.  Grays’ performance is part of the Minneapolis-based Mixed Blood Theatre.  “Dr. King’s Dream” is one of eight Mixed Blood Theatre shows performed at schools.
The Atwood theater was home to "Dr. King's Dream" Wednesday night.

The production by the Mixed Blood Theatre featured Marvin Grays in a simple, one-man show which illustrated The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King's life until his 1968 assassination.

The play began with a song of freedom that quickly silenced the crowd.

'Six Strings' spices up lunch

Six Strings and Vinyl performed in the Quarry Wednesday as part of "Live at Lunch," sponsored by University Program Board.The duo from Atlanta, Ga. stopped at SCSU as part of a two week tour, promoting their self-titled mini CD. The band consists of only two members: Fran Snyder plays acoustic guitar, and his accomplice DJ MVP spins records, scratches, and raps.

Unsigned bands to battle for studio time, recognition

On Feb. 5, the 11th annual Battle of the Unsigned Bands, sponsored by UPB, will give five different bands a chance to earn studio time and recognition.The five bands, selected from a total of 24 demo tapes are: McKinley Place, Dysfunction 212, Restructed, Ignition and Hydrophonics.
