Honda motor robot to tour U.S. The Honda Motor Company's humanoid robot has arrived for a tour of North America.
The robot, which Honda calls ASIMO, stands four feet tall and weighs about a hundred pounds. It can walk, mimic human gestures, climb stairs and negotiate disputes. It looks a bit like a child in a moon suit.
Honda has been working on humanoid robots for 15 years and said some future version of ASIMO could be used to aid the elderly or disabled.
The company said the purpose of this tour is education. It is taking the robot to museums and schools in a dozen cities, hoping to interest students in robotics.
The tour starts this weekend at Liberty Science Center in New Jersey.
Groundhog says six more weeks of winter Keep those winter coats out! The groundhog said six more weeks!
The famous Pennsylvania groundhog Punxsutawney Phil has spoken after seeing his shadow on emerging from his den, and is predicting six more weeks of winter.
Thousands of people attended the ceremony about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
Phil has failed to see his shadow, meaning an early spring, only 14 times. This is the 93rd time he has seen his shadow and suggested we all need to bundle up for another month-and-a-half.
