Penta promises pure water

On college campuses across America, students can be seen slinging bottles of Dasani at their sides and sipping Evian or Aquafina. Now, yet another bottled version of mother nature's choice beverage has appeared on the scene.

According to David Cheturn, chief operating officer for Bio-Hydration Research in Sandiego, Calif. Penta water is different from other bottled waters.

"This is the only patented purified water in the world," he said.

Cheturn also said the water's ability to hydrate also sets it apart from other bottled waters.

At birth, 70 percent of the body's cell weight is water. As people age, this percentage can be reduced to as low as 50 percent and people become unable to recognize signs of dehydration. Water is essential for cells in a person's body to perform their necessary functions.

Through a physics process that reduces the size of water clusters, Penta water can get in the body's cells faster for better hydration.

"We (Bio-Hydration) are also proud to say that we won the International Bottled Water for Manufacturing Award (IBWA) in 2002."

The discovery of the water-bearing protein channels in the cell membrane called aquaporins that manage the flow of pure water into the body (Johns Hopkins University, 1992) jumpstarted the Penta project.

The research showed that only the purest water with no additives, chemicals or even minerals is what the aquaporin channels first process to hydrate the body. Penta water is ozonated and UV treated so it does not cause a taste odor or residue problem. The ozone is oxygen that bubbles through the water while it is stored. Within a few hours, the ozone converts back to the same oxygen that people breathe

Free from chlorine, fluoride and other chemicals found in tap water, Penta water has exceptional hydration capability.

Since the sale of Penta water, millions of athletes, health practitioners, celebrities and others across the U.S. have started drinking the new improved version of H2O.

Vicky Nelson, owner of a small health food store called "Good Steward" in Wadena, Minn., boasts about Penta water's effects on people.

"Some of my clients have said that it helps them when they exercise because they feel like they have more energy," she said.

"I had one client tell me once that it increased his sex drive!"

Nelson also said that Penta water has a familiar flavor,

"It tastes like regular water but not as thick," Nelson said. "It feels thinner in your mouth."

Penta water can also aid in hangovers, PMS, increasing metabolism, fighting influenza, eliminating the toxins in the body and eliminating cottonmouth.

"It keeps the body younger and prevents disease," Nelson said.

Actor Christopher Atkins (who co-starred with Brooke Sheilds in "The Blue Lagoon"), echoes Nelson's statement.

"First of all, I am not getting paid to say this (his opinion on the water)," he told University Chronicle.

"When I drink the water, I notice a difference right away. I don't feel as bloated and I can run full laps," he said. "In the summertime, I can play baseball more efficiently. My stamina was a lot better."

So if the typical glasses of water to drink daily is eight, how much Penta water should a person drink?

By dividing body weight in half and convert that amount to ounces, anyone can determing how much pure water they should be drinking.

Although people may boast about the water's effects, it is quite costly.

One bottle of Penta water costs about $3, $40 for one case of 12 bottles and $75 for two cases of 24 bottles.

The nearest place to buy Penta water in Minnesota is Nelson's Store in Wadena and in Nutrition City of Affordable Nature Health Care in Minneapolis.

"I am very surprised that St. Cloud doesn't have a store that carries Penta water because it is much bigger than Wadena is," Nelson said.

"People are free to call me for a free sample if they choose, or to purchase the water as well," Nelson said.
