Holiday Inn founder dead at 90
Kemmons Wilson, 90, a business visionary who founded the Holiday Inn hotel chain in 1952, died Thursday at his home in Memphis, Tenn. The cause of death was not reported.

On a trip to Washington in 1951, the young millionaire was insulted by the high cost of staying overnight at a hotel. He began tinkering with how he could improve the industry and started the first of his Holiday Inn hotels in Memphis, taking its name from the 1942 film musical with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire that introduced the song "White Christmas."

Wilson retired as chairman of Holiday Inn Inc. in 1979 and created "The Top 20 Reasons to be Successful."

Cloned sheep Dolly put to sleep at age 6
Dolly the cloned sheep was put to death Friday, after premature aging and disease that killed her short existence and raised questions about the practicality of copying life.

The decision to end Dolly's life at age 6 - about half the life expectancy of her breed -was made because she had a progressive lung disease, according to the Roslin Institute, the Scottish lab where she was created and lived.

An autopsy will later be performed. Dolly's body eventually will be displayed at the National Museum of Scotland.
