Support, positivity strongly encouraged in times of need
Published:

As various forms of media lure us to think about what situations in which someone we know or do not know might currently be, the war is a subject heartbreakingly omnipresent.
Whether a person is directly connected to people in the war or not, it's hard not to think about the fact that there are people experiencing, first hand, as this editorial is being written and read, an unbelievable amount of chaos and destruction. Whether that fact affects your life directly in any way or not, it's hard not to think about the fact that it's affecting someone's life.
Many of us are carrying on like we normally do, but the media, some might have noticed, have been obviously, and rightfully, overtaken. To many, as bombs are being dropped in another country, laughter and incessant, seemingly meaningless chatter still carries on.
However, there are several people who are directly affected by the war even if they're not physically there to experience the chaotic trauma first hand.
And that's where counseling fits in. It allows people to gain some mental direction during a time of complete obliteration. While many are carrying on with the remainder of their semester, their jobs and their friendly chatter, there are people whose friends, relatives or spouses are away and in constant, horrifying danger.
There are also people whose lives have been disrupted just thinking about the experiences that other people have to go through. Counseling allows for positivity and support in a time of need; a time where people might feel more depressed, worried, sad and alone than a person thought was possible.
What a person needs during such a time is someone who will listen and offer advice if necessary; someone to take away the pain that is provided daily with the possibilities and realities of the war.
Whether you are carrying on unaffected or more affected than you ever thought possible, positivity and support during a time like this is the best thing that a person could offer or receive. Even though counseling is available for those in need, please remember to take time out to at least think about those who are in need or take time out to a help out someone you know who might need the encouragement.
