KVSC wins awards in Minnesota competition The KVSC news and sports departments made a strong showing in an annual competition conducted by the Minnesota Associated Press.
The two departments won a total of six awards, winning three each. The following SCSU students were recognized during the ceremony, which took place Friday in Bloomington, Minn.
The news department awards were given to SCSU students Michael Davies-Venn and Kateri Wozny. Davies-Venn won both a first place in the "In-Depth" category and a "Best in Show" Lone Ranger Award. Wozny won on honorable mention for a story on the Wellstone memorial. The sports department awards were given to SCSU students Jim Olander and Jim Hanggi. Olander and Hanggi were both awarded an honorable mention for coverage of the SCSU vs. UND hockey game. Olander also won a first place in sports reporting for "Celebrating 50 Years of Sports, with Ray Christiensen."
Guimond family wants help of Colorado dive team The family of missing St. John's University student Josh Guimond is asking Stearns County officials to use a Colorado dive team to look for his body.
Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner has no plans to bring Trident Foundation to St. John's yet, He hopes warm weather will thaw the lakes and Guimond's body will float to the top.
