Director of SCSU Foundation dies
Bruce MacKenzie, Executive Director of Development for the SCSU Foundation, died on April 4, 2003 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He died at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis. MacKenzie was 40 years old. MacKenzie received his bachelor's degree from SCSU in 1985, and had been on the staff at the foundation since 1999.

Services for MacKenzie were held on Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sauk Rapids. The Rev. Paul Cloeter officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.

First Amendment Forum comes to SCSU
The First Amendment Forum will be held in the Atwood Center on Friday, April 11. The theme for this year is "Documentary Journalism: Then And Now." The day itself is divided into many events.

The events are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with welcome and speech given by Kristian Berg, a filmmaker from Minneapolis, and Darren Renville, a American Indian author from South Dakota. Berg and Renville worked together on an award-winning documentary, 'Dakota Exile,' which will also be shown at 10 a.m. After the film there will be an hour-long meeting with an open mic for questions.

At 1 p.m., after a lunch break, there will be a seminar featuring reporters and writers from various Minnesota papers. The Forum is sponsored by the SCSU chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
