It's about that time where anything's possible
March and April are the times of year where anything's possible in the world of sports

Ah, what a great time of the year this is.
Sure, the weather here is more unpredictable than an NCAA Tournament office pool and it indeed gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, "March Madness."
Sure, animals from all walks of life are coming out of their winter slumber and running amuck on the human race. But it's okay, it's about that time where everything in the sports world just seems right.
It's that time where the NCAA national champions have just been crowned. If only I would have seen the light and picked the Syracuse Orangemen over Kentucky. It's also about that time where I've begun to wonder what if the U of M women's basketball would've gotten further in the NCAA Tournament and knocked off Pat Summitt and the Lady Vols? I think I would have died and gone to basketball heaven!
It's about that time where the first pitch of the new Major League Baseball season has been recently thrown, and for at least one day the Cubs are close to first place and I think once more that this is the year for the Red Sox.
What I wouldn't give for just one magical, angst-erasing season for either team. I know, a Sox/Cubs series is out of the question, but a boy can dream can't he?
It's that time of year, where I pray Ken Griffey Jr. stays healthy (alas, that also doesn't work). And it's about that time where we stop to contemplate if Bud Selig really isn't the right man for the job and ESPN's Stuart Scott is (at least in my case).
It's that time of the year where Michael Jordan's Superman qualities may not get the Wizards to the playoffs and for His Airness to hit that buzzer-beater one last time. Then, we'd throw our hands in the air, turn to our friends with an astonished look on our faces and utter for what might be the last time, "did you see that?"
It's a great time of the year, especially for Minnesotans because the Wild are headed to the playoffs. Don't give me any, "yeah, but's" in this situation. They do play the Colorado Avalanche, but so what?
It's that time of year where I'm pulling for any other team other than the Russian National Team, uh, I mean the Red Wings to win it all. Why? Because I don't need to see the former Mr. Kournikova (Sergei Federov) hoist another Cup over his head. He was married to Anna Kournikova, isn't that consolation enough for giving up Lord Stanley's Cup?
It's about that time where the T'wolves make me wonder if Glen Taylor and Kevin McHale will ever realize how truly stupid it was to secretly negotiate with Joe Smith and lose all they could have built by now. It's that time of the year, where it makes me wonder why KG hasn't gone AWOL to some other city yet.
It's that time where the controversy-laden Masters Tournament is played and it comes down to Sunday where Tiger Woods pulls out another victory and is truly deemed "The Man."
It's about that time, where even in these times of trouble that I hope for a sports tale exactly like Hoosiers or Rudy. It's about that time where we need a sports montage with a recently released tune that could bring the whole nation together at once in these troubled times.
It's about that time where the whole world is watching an 18-year-old kid named LeBron and hoping he doesn't screw up...again.
And it's about that time where you can look around, stop for a second, take a breath and realize it's truly a great time in the sports world, even though in the coming months things may not go the way you had pictured them. However, for at least one moment you thought "yeah, that definitely could happen."
And it's about that time that I begin to think what a great time of year this really is.
