Minnesotans have negative view on gun law
Since the new gun law passed allowing residents to conceal weapons, citizens who fear that the law will make Minnesota a more dangerous place to live outnumber those who think the law will make it safer.

The Star Tribune conducted a recent poll of nearly 800 adults in early September. Men have the most positive view of the law with 19 percent compared to only 4 percent of women. Sixty-eight percent of the women polled believe a more dangerous Minnesota will result while only 34 percent of men agree.

As of late, almost 8,000 handgun permits have been given out by sheriff departments in the last three months.

St. Cloud to limit phosphorous discharge
St. Cloud could potentially be affected by the State Appeals Court recent ruling about the levels of phosphorous discharge going from the city's wastewater treatment plants into the Mississippi River.

Although phosphorous is not toxic or life threatening to humans, it can be severely harmful to fish populations. St. Cloud could be issued a five-year operation permit, costing up to $3 million in changes to the treatment plant.
