A state-proposed employee contract would eliminate pay incentive for faculty. Under the current contract, faculty get a one-step pay increase each year or a two-step increase if they get a promotion. In the new contract, a person could be promoted from associate to full professor without a raise, but his or her title would change.

The bar, the movies, the mall, the metrodome, the coffee shop and the grocery store. These are places where students would like to spend what little money remains in their bank accounts after the drain of tuition and book expenses.

Tony Pugh Knight Ridder Newspapers WASHINGTON Just hours after Congress voted to salvage a "do not call" list for those who don't want to be phoned by telemarketers, a U.S. district judge in Denver derailed the popular proposal once more, claiming it violates free speech rights.

Discussion offers information

Last Wednesday the Human Relations and Multicultural Education department sponsored an event on the aftermath of Sept. 11. The event was put on to help the students of SCSU see both sides of the story. It also showed how the events leading up to the attacks may not have been completely shown by the mainstream media.

Power lost on campus

Areas of the SCSU campus were literally left in the dark as power outages occurred last week, leaving students, staff and employees wondering why. One of the affected areas was the Husky Bookstore, located in Centennial Hall. Around 2:15 p.m., half of the power went out.

Lessened faculty speculated

Faculty positions were the largest area impacted when SCSU's budget overview for fiscal years 2004 and 2005 was finalized. According to the Web site http://www.stcloudstate.edu/budget, when SCSU released the budget plan for fiscal years 2004 and 2005 on July 30, this past summer, faculty positions were reduced over $2 million.
