Past actions haunt Lewis

When former student Robbi Hoy started her education at SCSU several years ago, she only wanted to learn about her favorite subject and become a professor of historical archaeology. She did not expect to have her education ruined while being taught the politics behind academia.

Student overcomes meningitis

SCSU senior Jessica Appelholm was hospitalized two years ago with meningococcal meningitis, a swelling of the brain that leads to death if untreated.  After six months of rehab, she returned to SCSU last fall and now has three classes remaining until she graduates.
Jessica Appelholm is all too familiar with the intimate details of meningitis.

But that was not always the case; two years ago, the SCSU senior knew little about the disease and was not worried about contracting it.

That all changed when she woke up Oct.

Kurdish perspective shared

Kurdish Activist Kani Xulam discussed the current occupation of Iraq by the U.S. and the impact this has had on the Kurdish people in Atwood Center Thursday.
Renowned Kurdish activist Kani Xulam discussed the conditions that Kurdish people live under Thursday evening at the Atwood Memorial Center Theater.

A population of 30 to 40 million Kurds live in an ancestral homeland known as Kurdistan.

The countries that make up the region are Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran.

Wellstone crash analyzed

Paul Wellstone came to St. Cloud State for a rally last year just before he died in a plane crash.  To commemorate his death, his accident was analyzed in the Miller Center last week.
Eight people, including U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone, died in a plane crash Oct. 24, 2002.

To mark the one year anniversary of Wellstone's death, SCSU aviation professor Jeffrey Johnson presented a slide show containing an accident analysis of what went wrong the day of the crash.

MTC adds new route

Beginning Nov. 3, the MTC will be adding a new South Clipper route, an express southeast route and will refine its West Clipper route to meet the needs of the steadily growing number of riders.

According to the MTC ridership statistics, the number of riders this September, compared to numbers from last September, has risen drastically on all campus Clipper routes.
