Groups interested in closed schools Several local groups have shown an interest in buying or renting two of the three schools that were closed by St. Cloud school district last year.
Jefferson Elementary School is being looked at by The Central Minnesota Boys and Girls Club, which wants to move to a newer location. Another idea has been to turn the school into a housing center for seniors.
Other groups have proposed turning Washington Elementary School into a cultural center.
St. Cloud school district closed the schools last year as a way to save money. The school board will hear official ideas on the matter in February.
SCSU offers colloquium to students St. Cloud State University's seventh annual Student Research Colloquium is scheduled for April and students are encouraged to sign up now.
The colloquium gives students the opportunity to spend a day in the spotlight as they present a project, piece of research or thesis throughout the day. Students get the opportunity to discuss their work and learn from others in their field.
Undergraduate and graduate students from colleges in the St. Cloud area are welcome to participate in the colloquium.
