Bush to be re-elected? I hope not
By Jay Corn
This is all one big joke, right? Somebody's going to be popping out any minute now, laughing as they tell me I've been Punk'd and it was all just a prank.
Please tell me they are.
Despite the debacle of the Bush administration over the past four years, CNN polls still have him beating any candidate in the Democratic field if Election Day was tomorrow. I just don't understand. I find it so hard to believe that the American public, the ones who care anyway, actually want to see another four years with this man at the helm.
The ironic thing is that for the first time in recent memory, there are actually Democratic candidates that deserve a chance to be president. If you care, there's a candidate worthy of your vote. There's a reason why Michael Moore supports Gen. Wesley Clark. There's a reason why prominent film and music stars are coming out in droves in support of Howard Dean and John Kerry. They're all asking the right questions. The two biggest: Where are the nukes? And where's Osama?
I'm telling you all right now, the presidential office, as well as a lot of seats in the House and Senate, better swing heavily in favor of Democrats this November. For all of our sakes, that better happen. If it doesn't, I'm seriously contemplating just giving up my citizenship and moving to Costa Rica.
Do some research people, God knows we're online enough. Find out how your country's fared in the hands of a big-business oilman who has proven himself, at best, careless when faced with policy shaping decisions. Find out exactly how he managed to take a federal budget that was balanced by President Clinton, and turn that into a mega-billion dollar debt.
Truth is, I'm tired. I'm tired of watching the United States hemorrhage money on wasteful undertakings. Hopefully between now and November, more will feel the same.
