Ludacris sets standard

Ludacris filled a capacity crowd of around 5,000 at Halenbeck Hall Wednesday night. He blasted through a set of songs that lasted about an hour. Local rap group Hydrophonics and Chicago underground rap group Primeridian opened for the MTV superstar.
On a typical Wednesday night, most of the women at SCSU can be found at the library modeling studious habits and presenting a high moral integrity that would make their parents proud.

But last night, many of the SCSU women could be found at Halenbeck Hall, among a crowd of 5,000 chanting Ludacris lyrics chalk full of sexual innuendos that promote sexual actions most people would be embarrassed to talk about.

Expansion opens

SCSU reopened the west entrance to Atwood Memorial Center Monday and offered tours of the newly constructed area to the public. GLT Architect John Frischmann said one of the main goals of the project was to create a better flow of traffic through the building.

Students celebrate Christianity

This week brought more than five Christian clubs together for three campus events.

Sunday night kicked off the week with 24 hours of prayer at the United Ministries (UM) house at 391 Fourth Ave. South.

Students began gathering at the house to pray for the upcoming events and the campus at 7 p.

Black: Osama cowers

WASHINGTON - Osama Bin Laden is so hounded by U.S. forces that he no longer controls al-Qaida, a top American counterterrorism official said Thursday.

"The sense is no, he's not (in charge) in the way that we think of it," said Ambassador Cofer Black, the State Department's counterterror coordinator.

Despite report, market remains tough

WASHINGTON - Don't tell Maricella Garcia the job market is improving.

The 26-year-old Little Rock, Ark., resident works two part-time jobs to pay her $435-a-month mortgage. She can't afford health insurance. And she hasn't been able to find a decent-paying, full-time position with benefits.

Shirts yield awareness

Brightly colored T-shirts with multi-hued painted words decorating the fronts and backs of the clothing lined Atwood this week.

Passers-by did double takes as the messages displayed on the shirts eventually became apparent.

Passolt offers wisdom

SCSU alumnus and KMSP-TV FOX 9 news anchor Jeff Passolt shared his wisdom, trials and even a few embarrassing moments with about 45 people Wednesday in Atwood Theatre.

"Knock on wood, but I pinch myself when I see what I did," he said.

Passolt came to SCSU in 1977 and declared his broadcast degree a few years later.
