Tornado destroys Illinois town Tuesday a twister cut through Illinois practically destroying a small town 90 miles southwest of Chicago.
A search crew pulled eight bodies out of the ruins of a tavern where locals had fled for shelter. Nine people were dug out of the tavern alive. Those who died ranged from age 18 to 81 and were found in various locations in the tavern. Over 10 people were injured.
The tornado destroyed many things, including tearing the roof off the grade school, a car was demolished after bricks from a building fell onto it, a metal silo toppled over and many homes were flattened to the ground.
Four counties in Illinois were declared disaster areas and may apply for relief funds.
This tornado was one of dozens reported Tuesday in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Nebraska.
Bomber targets Saudi police building A police building in Saudi Arabia was bombed Wednesday killing at least four people and wounding 148.
The bomb ignited several fires and shattered glass from nearby buildings. The sound of the bomb could be heard over three miles away.
The bomber had earlier tried to drive a car into the General Security building. When the bomber's attempts failed, they exploded the car about 100 feet from the gates. Five other cars were later discovered with explosives in them.
No Americans were hurt in the bombing. It is believed that the bomber was not targeting foreigners but was targeting the nation.
Fifty-one people were confirmed dead, including the bombers. The exact number of deaths is not certain yet as there were conflicting accounts of the death toll.
