Decorations cause clash

First-year student Amber Manko decorates the CSOLD office window in Atwood Memorial Center. Manko said she drew multiple designs for the display in an attempt to come up with a non-cultural holiday display.
Some students believe the Grinch has stolen Christmas.

In past years, holiday decorations filled campus buildings and residence halls. Although there is no written policy, some students have claimed the university has taken a no-decorations stance to the holidays.

Student senators vie for votes

College representative elections are coming up quickly and the candidates have been named. The elections are conducted bi-annually so that representatives will take office during the start of the fall and spring semesters.

The representatives will have an important job to fulfill after they take office and will become the voice of the students in their particular colleges.

Agriculture grabs students' attention

For one group of students, an initiative that began as a class project has turned into an event that may have far-reaching effects on the community.

Faculty, students and community members attended a dinner promoting sustainable agriculture and a developing community garden at University Lutheran Church Tuesday night.

With the holiday season comes the harsh weather of Minnesota. Asian Students In Action (ASIA) members have put together a clothing drive for this holiday season to help the new Hmong refugees keep warm this winter.

"This will be the first time they experience harsh winters," the advisor of ASIA Hedy Tripp said.
